Hey guys

need to ask a question for a friend of mine. his rpm are running to low at wot so the first thing we want to think about is the prop. the question is he has dual props -- does that make a difference in the selection of the pitch. when I look at the charts etc for proper prop selection it does not talk about dual props.

Thanks
COOL IT

What are we talking about here, Mercruiser or Volvo?
Dual props come in matched sets for either.
Did this low rpm probem just happen, or is it a new boat that has never been right.
What rpm is he now getting, and what engine setup does he have?

Thanks for the quick reply

he has a 2001 searay bow rider 24 ' with a mercruiser 5.0 I think a bravo not sure. he bought it this season seemed to run fine, but he did not relize that he was not in the rpm range of what should be 44-4800. he is only about 35-3600 at wot. I am not sure what pitch props he has now I still need to get that info from him

Does this boat sit at a Dock, or on a Mooring ???

Before I dropped that much coin for a set of Props,......
I'd Make Sure the bottom of the boat isn't what's holding it back.........
How much sea life is hitch hiking a Free Ride ???

If that's Not the problem,.....
A Full Tune Up, along with a Compression,+ Leak-down Test will give a pretty good indication of the over-all condition of the Power Plant..............

Yeah, Bondo is right, the first thing you should do is figure out where your power went.

I would verify that tach too . . . Especially if it is on a trailer most of the time. From what I can tell he doesn't know what the RPM was when new, so there is no confirmed loss of power.
