I just purchased a used boat, its a pretty heavy boat, 2000 16ft Fisher Dominator (riveted Aluminum), Center console. It has an outboard 2003, 9.9 hp Mercury 4-stroke (lakes here have HP limits). I need to replace the prop (damaged), any suggestions on what I should install, the previous owner said it wouldn't plane, it has a standard prop on it now, I think a 9x9, I was told to use a 10.5x6.5 b/c of its weight and size, (I think the WOT RPM's are around 5000-5500), any suggestions, just want to use it to get to my fishing spots faster, and with a little more fun :) ....Thanks

Welcome to iboats. :)

Are you sure it's a bigfoot? 9x9 sounds like a stock prop for a standard gearcase. If it is Bigfoot, it's geared for pushing non-planing boats. 9.9s have a problem with planing, even with standard gearcases. I really doubt any 9.9 could plane such a heavy boat. Not even a 15. Even a 25 may not be enough.

Its a 2003 9.9hp 4-stroke, and I asked the local Marina guys, they told me that it was a big foot for sure, well even if i wont be able to get it to plane, what would be my best choice in props, should i just replace it with an exact duplicate, or what? I need to replace it either way, just wondering what a good prop. would be for my setup. Thanks for the quick replies...

Depending on the boat, what they advised sounds logical. I wouldn't use the 9x9 except on a light rowboat.
