I purchased a boat that came with 2 different props. Currently im running a aluminum 14 3/4 - 21 prop. The other prop i have is a 14 1/4 - 21. What difference would i see between these 2 props with only a 1/2" diameter difference ? My boat is a 190 Monterey with a Volvo 5.0 and it has great top speed, just not much punch getting a skier up.

the difference between those props is almost nothing performance wise....getting to performance "you" are getting with these props on your rig....what is your WOT rmp reading once you are up on plane? if your slugish getting on plane but get to recommended Rpm range for your engine. you should consider a 4 blade prop. a 4 blade will punch you up on the water in half the time, however...if your ok with losing 1-3 mph top end speed get a 4 blade. it's (the 4 blade) provides overall the best performance

Hmmm, 4 blade, I didnt think of that. I will check my RPMs this weekend and get back with you. My father was driving my boat this past weekend while I was skiing and he said I need a 19 pitch, but I wanted to research it more. It was a fight for me to get up on a slalom ski. With 4 people in the boat i can still run over 50MPH.

gap.. get your numbers TAC at WOT and GPS speed and report back...if your ok (and most are) with losing 1-3 mph top end, the benefits of a 4 blade will make your jaw drop open......it's like having a new boat,, the increased thrust out of the hole will put a smile on your face.....I went from a 3 blade on my 20ft cuddy to a 4 blade,, what use to take way to long to get on plane is now accomplished in less than 5 seconds.. there's plenty of experts here to guide you on the correct pitch in 4 blade..once you put that on I can guarentee you you will love it. once the 4 blade is on and you punch it.. :) wait and see, no more problems with skiiers
