Prop Question...Sorry

I wanted to post here as this is more a maintenance Force question (model 856X4L, Bayliner package) In 4 years of owning the rig I've never needed to take off the prop. Everything seems to be good & no problems.

Now, I want to take off the prop & clean the shaft. Are their any seals, gasgets, O rings or anything else that may need replacing? Should I grease or lubricate the shaft in any way?

& the most stupid question...How exactly do I take the prop off, or would their be any possible problems, For ex: prop stuck on shaft?

BTW/ This is not the original prop & the cone is off. I have both but everything works good as is so I didn't want to change back.

As always Thank you for the help. Dave

Re: Prop Question...Sorry

Just the nut at the end of the prop and only the prop will come off. Nothing else will come off with that single nut. The easiest way to explain it is it is like taking a tire off but with only one lugnut. hope this helps.

Re: Prop Question...Sorry

Depending on the year it was made, some models have a cone anode at the end of the shaft. This comes off with a bolt and nut.

Next you take off the large 15/16 fiber lock nut and washer. Now you remove the plastic flare and then the propeller.

Depending how long the prop was on there, the thrust washer, in the front of the prop, may stay on the shaft or it may come off with the prop. Be mindful of it so you don't lose it.
