Rather new to this boatng thing, and was wondering, under normal conditions, should the prop move on the center hub at all? I got close to a sand bar last year, but I didnt think I caused any problem. Just out of curiosity, I scribed a mark on the outside splined washer and one on the metal hub of the prop. Ran the boat all day yesterday. When i got home I checked the prop and the lines no longer matched up.I assume the prop spun on the hub, but how much I dont know.Does the prop hub need to be replaced? If so does any one have a ball park price.
(125 hp force motor)
Thanks

Re: Prop Question?

No. Your prop is supposed to sit as one piece with the hub. The rubber bushing is meant to do exactly what it did: Save your gears and drive when/if you hit something.

The hub is repairable. Shop around for good price. Or go for a new and keep the the old one as spare (even solves the question of blade damage etc.) Make sure you know the size/pitch of the old one in case you want to consider new specs.
