Prop question...

When I bought my boat the guy who owned it put on a new Stiletto prop. I went through the paperwork and couldn’t find any documentation for it. I have a GM 5.7L and I believe that WOT RPM is around 4600 RPM but I can only get around 4100 RPM tops. I was wondering if I changed the pitch if I would be able to get more top end. Then again, I can cruise pretty good at only 2600 RPM and I get great mileage for a heavy Sea Ray 23 foot cuddy. I’m afraid if I change the prop that I will lose economy without gaining that much speed. Any thoughts?

Re: Prop question...

Actually, you will gain economy if it's setup for max RPM...anything under that will require less work.
What pitch stiletto do you have now???

I have know idea what the pitch of the prop is as I have no documentation. Also, I looked on the prop and can't find anything.

Re: Prop question...

Did you take the prop off the motor? The size is usually marked behind the washer. You will only be able to see it with the prop taken off.

Jay
