I have tested my boats top end to see if I am propped ok. Iam running 4500 rpm at around 47mph gps with a 4.3L Tahoe Q4. Is this sastisfactory. I would like a better hole shot and I am not sure if I should try a different prop. I have a 23 aluminium right now. I am looking at going to a 21 high five or a 21 ss 3 blade. What do you folks think and is there anyone out there with the same setup as mine, if so , what kind of numbers are you getting with your setup.
I remember last season when the boat was new, I hit around 55 WOT on the speedo.
Can a boat decrease top end after break in?
Thanks for any help.

Re: Prop Question

A pitot speedo is not real accurate.Your GPS should be right on.
What is the max recommended rpm.Should be a label on the motor.
My guess would be about 4600 to 4,800 but don't be guessing.
Not an expert but I think the 3 bld. 21 will give you better hole shot
and probably a little more speed cause stainless pushes better. rpm
should be higher but probably not the typical 200 per inch.
