Recently bought a 1966 95hp merc and it came with 2 prop's, One is a 3 blade white prop and the other is a black 2 blade prop.Which one most likely came on this motor and what are the main differences between a 2 and 3 blade prop.
I think the 66 came with a 2 blade prop.But that would depend on the application.A big heavy boat or one carrying heavy loads would likelyn have a 3 or 4 blade prop.A 2 blade would more likely be on a light fast boat.
Present day props are almost exclusively 3 blade as they respond better
through more applications.To be sure there are 4 blade props and more.These do well for certain specific appolications.The 2 blade prop has become obsolete for most applications except for small motors and some of them have 3 blades.
