Prop question

I've had some advice on what prop to get for my 4.3L Alpha 1 Generation II drive. I had a 21p 3-blade and was only able to get about 4200 rpm, whereas I should be getting around 4400-4800. I just saw an ad on CL for a 5-blade 20p SS that came off an Alpha 1 Gen. II. Do you think it's too much pitch or might it work? Will there be much rpm gain going from a 3-blade 21p to a five blade 20p?

My goal is great hole shot and I'm not too worried about top end. I'd like to pull skiers and tubers without any problems or having to drag them across the lake before the boat planes.

I just bought a 4-blade 19p, but if I can get a better prop..... So, should I stick with the 19p I bought or will the 5-blade 20p work?

Thanks guys.

Re: Prop question

Prop selection is an educated crap shoot at best. You have the 4 bld. 19" give it a try.It should help your hole shot, and stay on plane with less power at a slight sacrifice of top end.If your changing material and brands you introduce more unknowns so the final results will vary.Though improvement should be as suggested.

There would be RPM LOSS going from a 21p 3 blade to a 20p 5 blade. It will not work, most likely. I agree with above, try the 4 blade prop you got, first.
