I have a 4,500 lbs cruiser with an I/O Mercruiser 260. Would like to install a 4 blade stainless steel prop.

I would like plaining faster, with better gas mileage instead of faster top end.

What size of prop, what pitch should be used, 1 or 2 piece hub?

Thanks for the info.

Re: Prop Question?

Keep in mind there are 4 blade props made specificaly for stern drive boats. What you're looking for is not hard to achieve.

Re: Prop Question?

what prop do you run now? my boat is simaler in weight and i run a 16x16 3 blade "elaphant ear" style, this is much better than the more commen 14"ish 3 blade props. Ive posed your same question to the local prop place (compairing above prop) and he said what i have is better than a 4 blade for my application, -he could have said yes and sold me a prop on the spot so I took the advice as his honest opinion. That being said I still would like to try a 4 blade for myself mostly trying for better economy
