Hello everyone or anyone! I have a 1981 35hp Johnson motor pushing a 16ft alluminum bass boat and i'm looking for a prop that will maximize my motor's speed, currently i have a 10x11 stainless prop and by the way it performs i know i can gain more speed with the right prop. Does anyone have some advice i will take what i can get, Thanks to all that respond.

Re: Prop question

You could most likely go to a 13 pitch, possibly to a 15 if you normally run with only yourself in the boat.

Re: Prop question

I have no idea what rpm your engine should be running vs what it is running with the current prop but I would probably probably try a 13 like usskydvr suggested. Going from an 11 to a 15 would be a huge jump. Imo, overproped is worse than underproped.

Re: Prop question

Without your rpm and speed there is no way to know if your performance is prop related or setup/motor related.Do you know the dry weight of the boat less motor?
Do you know the brand? The 11" prop is a suggested for 15-17' heavy boats.
producing speeds 19-27 mph. The 13" is suggested for 13-15' running 26-34.mph.
It is very important that the motor run at about 5,500 at wot.Running below is lugging the motor and if severe could cause premature repair problems.Over reving
in the extreme can shorten the life of the motor.
To me the 11 is a good match for your boat. If you get a Tinytach,$47, and
borrow a gps you can tell much better where you are at.
