Prop Question

I have a 99 Stingray 190RS 4.3 merc alpha 1.81. The props i have now are:
14" 23p stock merc aluminum. 4800rpm about 54mph-a little dinged up
14" 23p Mich Wheel Vortex aluminum. 4800-5000rpm about 54-55mph-good light load cruising, not so great for watersports
14" 23p 4 blabe QL aluminum. light load=4200rpm 48mph. loaded=4100rpm 45mph-good light load hole shot not so loaded with tuber
14.25" 19p 4 blade QL aluminum. light load=5000+rpm 46mph. loaded=4800rpm 44mph-good hole shot not so with speed....

Im looking to get a SS prop because of some nasty weeds and Mich wheel SS are on sale here at iboats What would be recomended? Want something for an "all around" prop, probably comparable to the stock 23" 3 blade. Ill put the 19" on for watersports... This was the new 19" 4 balde before a couple hrs of running through weeds.....

Sounds like that Michigan Wheel is getting it done for you! 55mph... thats awesome. Well, your numbers are close to mine, so i will share. I had a stock 23p 3 blade alum on my glastron that went 52mph. I went with a 14.75 x 21p solas 3 blade ss that runs me right at 50 and 4650rpm's. I would like a little more speed... but i think it's a good all around prop.

It was a bit sketchy goin 55 with the engine screaming at 5000rpm and trimmed all the way up, but its fun But its annoying when theres big spots of paint missing off the blades... makes the boat look like crap IMO. Im thinking either a 23p 3 blade or 22p 4 blade but I have no experience with SS. The 4 blades are awsome around the dock.

Then get the 4 blade @ 22p in stainless steel! That's the right conversion. Plus: SHINY!

You think it would turn enough RPMs? the 23p 4 blade I got only gets up to 4200 maxed out and trimmed up..

I don't think it will. Look at the props in my earlier post. ^^^^ Get a SS 21p 3 blade... and i bet you will have rpm to spare but be within range.
