I have a 2000 25hp mercury big foot and I need someone to help recommend a stainless steel prop. The motor is mounted on a 17ft. jon boat. I will be running the boat in shallow bays (salt water) so, I need to have the right pitch and diameter that will get me on a plane quick. Max load will be around 700lbs. including motor ,gas and battery but, most of the time it will be around 500lbs. Thanks to anyboby that can help recommend a prop. and for your time. Mark

Re: prop question

Welcome,
I don't know if you want a SS prop if your likely to strike bottom.
If you read the stickys at the top of the prop forum and get us the info needed we can probably help you.
Do you know the gear ratio?I'm assuming 2.33 from the 40 hp.
A couple of tips; keep unnecessary weight out of the stern.
If its a tiller motor a buy or make a tiller extension, will help get your weight forward.
You may be able to gain a couple of inches by raising the motor on the transom.
