Hi All, I have just bought my first boat and have lots of questions. The prop that is on the boat right now is pretty beat up so I am wanting to change it. After reading all the great info on this site I think I have enough knowledge to sart asking the right qustions.

The boat is a 1976 Reinell 190 with a GM 250 ci straight 6 with an OMC outdrive. The current prop is a 14 x 16 aluminuim. Had it out for a test run and wot was reading about 2750 rpm at 28 mph. I am about to give it a tune up and fuel filters although it seemed to run very smoothly for sitting for two years.

Finally my questions. Does this boat have a through the prop exhaust? Is it a 2 spline pinned or a 13 spline? Does that center hub pound out?

Thanks,

Darren

Re: Prop questions

As was mentioned over on the I/O forum, you first need to get some other stuff sorted out before buying a prop. 2750 rpm wide open throttle is not correct, nor is 23 mph. Verify the tach, do a tune up, and no, the prop is not through hub exhaust -- at least not that I can tell from the smallish picture. And it is also not a 13 spline.

Re: Prop questions

Thanks for the advice Silvertip. Hopefully I can get all the parts before the weekend then get it in the water to test the tach, compression and timing.
