I have a 20 ft tritoon with lifting stakes, and a 150 merc. Boat & motor weighs about 2500 lbs . Prop is now a 14.5 by 15p and turning 4800 rpms . does this sound correct? thanks jeff

Your rpm and speed would be helpful.Depending on your actual speed it appears to me you have something else going on.Tach error, poor setup.motor issues.
In very bassic figures your prop appears to be about right perhaps slightly light.
Your rpm and speed estimate about 5,500 rpm 40+ mph.

The rpms are 4800 to 4900 and running 38 mph. If i trim it up more than this it will start cavitating. Had a 17p prop on it ran 43 mph with same rpms. I went lower to gain rpms but not happening. The motor is set back 11 inches and center-line of prop is 4.0 inches from bot. of center toon. I am thinking about a 19p stainless. Thanks for your time on this. Also what does slightly light mean, a little new at this.

Slightly light means the pitch is a little lower number than it should be =.That was a educated guess on my part.I think your 17 may be right.Based on my research your 43 is very good.
And I wonder if the tach is accurate? Are the props the same brand and model?
