Boat is a Bayliner 2556 with a 5.7 and a cobra outdrive. I am currently running an aluminum 4 blade prop with a 13 inch pitch. The boat has been refitted with 12 x 24 trim tabs to get it on plane early. At about 3100rpms it's on plane and running 15 - 17 mph. So far, so good. Problem is it tops out at 4000rpm and 21-22mph. No matter how I trim it out I can't get much faster.
Previous to the 4 blade I was running a 14 3/8 x 15 ss prop and running about 28 mph at 4400rpm. Trouble was it took forever to get on plane.
I need a happy medium and was considering a solus new saturn 15 5/8 x 13. I've read alot of negatives on running a ss prop in saltwater and was wondering what you guys thought about the prop and also what your thoughts of ss in saltwater.
