Have a 1968 Mercury 500 50 horsepower mounted on a 66 Duo Runabout. Finally got together enough for some water trials, hard to believe there was a small tree growing out of this boat in April:

I have been Working through several issues, but I think the hub is spun in the prop. What would be a good diameter and pitch prop for this boat? The prop that came with the engine appears to be a 10 3/4 diameter and a 12 pitch 2 blade aluminum prop. Looking to use the boat to do some casual fishing, pull tubes for the kids and general putting around the lake... At a $100 + per prop - I don't want to have to expirement to much...

Re: Prop Recommendations

It doesn't cost anything to get some white marker and put a mark from the hub to the prop, then run the prop. If the mark moves your hub is "failed". I'd get the hub repaired at a prop shop. Cheaper than a prop.
BTW boat looks very sharp.

I'll second that; An indelible mark across the hub> If its spun have it rehubbed and test run it get us the max rpm and speed. If no tach check out the tinytach.
About $47 and easy to install.
