I have a 4.3 Volvo, 225 HP and I am installing a 1.50:1 SX outdrive. This is on a 25' boat similar to a Parker boat. What size prop would be a good starting point?

Seems like a lot of boat for a v6. What size engine originally came with the boat?

There a prop section, maybe ask there?
Michigan propeller has a good prop finder service.
You;ll need the weight , length , width maybe more.

A friend had a 23ft boat similar to the parker.
It had a 125hp Volvo.
With the correct Volvo prop it actually handled really well.

The friend calls me up and says he's having problems getting on plane and real poor performance.
I check the motor and find nothing.
As I get ready to leave I see a NEW prop on the drive.
I ask when did the trouble start?
He says as soon as I installed the new prop.He didn't bother to tell me that.

The new prop was an aftermarket and had shorter blades.
Seems the smaller motor needed the wide broad blades from the OEM prop.

I agree with Fish Head that a 25 foot boat is a lot for a V-6 and that gear ratio of 1.50:1 would be typically found on a 5.7 or 7.4. If I had to make a guess on a prop I would start with a 15 pitch and look at performance out of the hole, getting on plane, and full throttle rpm. I would suggest if you could swap the lower unit then 1.97:1 or at most the 1.78:1 would do much better paired with your V-6 on a boat of that size.
