I just got an outboard with no prop ( the guy I bought if from bought it for the prop) but I don't know which prop rotation to get (clockwise or counterclockwise)?
When looking at the shaft the shaft turns counterclockwise. ( looking from where the shaft comes out of the gearbox)
Can't post engine details

Re: Prop rotation

From behind the boat/motor counterclockwise is lefthand rotation, the exception. Clock wise is considered normal.
You will need a left hand prop.

as steelspike said you need a left rotating prop but what kind of motor is it? since someone bought it for the prop then got rid of the motor you might have an issue finding one since I doubt this guy went to all that trouble for nothing.

He's testing our crystal balls! I was going to ask the same question earlier and figured all he wanted was guesses.

Re: Prop rotation

It's a homemade mud motor that I bought with a 10hp Briggs and Stratton engine. So all I needed was which prop rotation I needed. It's for my Jon boat. I had to replace the original engine ( harbor freight Honda clone with a cracked block) to a Briggs.
