I have a 2012 pontoon with a 2012 Yamaha F115. Running 5400 rpms at wot with typical load of 8 people.

Thinking of removing some cup.

Thoughts?

What is the max RPM the engine is rated for?
8 people in a pontoon is a good load on a 115 engine but need to prop it near max RPM..

Manual states 5000 to 6000. I would prefer to run closer to 5800 I think with a load like this.

Btw, I used to run higher. I think it's the accumulated gear

What is the max speed at 5400?
What is the wot rpm and gps speed with a light load.

About 24 mph. I have not had it out with a light load in so long, but I think it is 27/28 at 5800

Combo should be propped to run to its full max 6K wot revs with 8 passengers if that's the max it will take with a 115 HP. Boating lightly loaded or with just 4 adult up, expect OB to over rev or rev limiter kicking in prematurely. Will need to watch tach while boating full hammer down with less passengers. Once at max wot rpm range for 8 passengers can throttle less to your likeness of 5800 revs with exellent performance with tad less throttle & OB stress..

Dialing best prop performance for a boat which has more hull drag being a toon and used with more or less boaters is a real PITA as the rpm equation changes in accordance with load. That's why have limited my boat passenger/OB capacity to just 2 to run at max wot rpm which I like exeedingly with a underpowered OB,

Happy Boating

Yea, I think I need to take some cup off. I may just toss on the stock Yam prop this weekend and take my stainless in for a little work.
