I use a merc 5.0L 220hp alpha 1. While enjoying it a few days ago in cruise it overspeed for a second, brought it back to neutral (trimmed correctly, probally not ventlation) made a loud whine noise. Anyways then I was only able to get about 20 mph (should be around 50-54 mph) at 5000rpm. My wot is 4400-4800. At first i thought clutch problems. But after reading and contacting a merc dealer/tech she said it's most likely the prop under torq b/c of rubber bushing damage. Secondly should i go to a four blade. 2000 Crownline 205 ccr. Standard prop is 141/2 X 19. I.m looking into a Michigan vortex aluminum for about 109.00. Thanks anyone.
