Prop seems loose on shaft

I have a new Mercury Optimax 90 hp with a 21p Laser II prop and I notice that the prop has a little play at the base of the housing. I had it checked out at BP and they seemed to think this was normal. Should you have play in the propl like this? This is unusual to me, because other motor I have had did not have this issue.
