I have a '02 Chaparral 216 SSI with the 260HP Mercruiser 5.0L MPI engine. I am currently running a refurbished 3 blade aluminum prop 21" pitch which came with the boat. My current prop tops out around 5000 rpm and the top speed is around 53 mph at WOT. I am looking to buy a Mercury Rev 4 because I want to gain hole shot performance and stay on plane at lower speeds. I am not sure if I should go with the 17" or 19" pitch Rev 4. I have read that this prop is large and heavy and you really need to decrease size in order to power it correctly. Is the Rev 4 the correct prop for my boat or do you have any better suggestions? I live in NC and no dealers around me will allow me to try out SS props, just basic aluminum ones which does me no good.
