hi. first time owner long time addict. i boat this boat recently from a guy who used it in a rocky area. the prop has a couple dings on it. i am hesitant to go wot because i wouldnt want to damage the lower end. it doesnt seem to have any vibration or weird noises but i would feel more comfortable with a new prop. will slight curves at the tip of the prop do any damage? Aside from that i have on there right now a black max 14.5" x 21" manufacture says wot should be around 4500rpm. the gear ratio is 2.0 engine is a 3.0 135 hp mercruiser. should i use the exact same prop or should i go with a different one? I use the boat for pleasure cruising right now. also what do i need to chamg it? All new washers or just the prop and a wrench? Thanks for the help!

Welcome,
Pictures of the prop would help us decide about the prop.
a 21" is at the upper end of prop size The higher the number will produce more speed but will have less power for heavy loads or water sports.Your motor needs to be able to operate within its rated rpm range. The right prop will get you there. It may be cost effective to get the prop repaired and do some test runs lightly loaded and get us the info required in the stickys at the top of the prop forum.
Your numbers and your requirements/activities will determine your prop needs.
Prop size is given _ _ X _ _ diameter X pitch. Pitch is the key number diameter follows the design. If the prop is intended for your setup the diameter will be correct.

Hi. thanks for the info. I have attached 2 pictures of the propeller. The boats max load is 7 people. I purchased it with my father in-law so a lot of the times we have around 6 people on it. No one is overweight so its not a tremendous load but its still 6 people with gear on a 19 foot boat. having more power for heavy loads would be best as when i try to push her past 3500 rpm i get screamed at. (have an infant as well that mom holds onto for dear life) so speed at this time is not something that I necessarily need. Thanks for the help!
