Prop shaft play

I recently hit a big rock with the outdrive, alpha 1 gen 2. I have a replacement lower, gear lash seems minimal but there's ~.085" end play in the prop shaft. Should I be concerned? Should I be shimming to reduce it? Thanks.

Ayuh,... I was gonna say, ya should see 'bout 1/8", fore, 'n aft play, but .085" is no doubt closer to the truth...

When you say 'play', do you mean end-float? If so, that's perfectly normal....

Yes, I'm able to push the prop shaft in, then pull it straight out ~ .085". There's no up/down/sideways movement.
