prop size 1 1/2 in smaller than original, been whittled on..

this is the original prop for this motor '56 MercElectric Mark 25E part # 48 23647A1, embossed in prop, problem is prop is supposed to be 11 inches in diameter, but measures only 9 3/8 inches.... could this be why boat will not reach charted speeds, it is currently running 10 - 15 mph slower than called for in specs? :confused:

most definately. It simply is'nt throwing the volume of water it once did.That coupled with load factors all play a part

Hi,<br /> How many horsepower is your motor?Take a tape measure from the center of the prop shaft to the bottom(underneath) of the cavitation plate.Whatever this measurement is multiply by 2,then subtract 1/4"inch.This is the largest prop diameter your motor should accommodate.Hope this helps...

manual, prop chart, and parts list all say this motor to ship originally with an 11 inch prop, the prop i have matches their part number, and yes an 11 incher will fit, already checked it, but thanks for replying :cool:

sorry reel missed your question the first time...it is stated as a 25E, but actually it is rated at just over 20 pony's
