Hello. I recently purchased a new 24' tahoe fish and fun pontoon boat. I put a 1984 Evinrude 140 (E140TLCR) on it for this season while I look for a good deal on a 115 4-stroke yammy. The pitch on the 140 Evinrude is 17. I do not have my tack set up on the dash as I dont want to spend any money for one season of use. Is there a prop size and pitch that I should go with thats better suited for my pontoon boat?

Get a hold of Laura at Piranha Propellers, she helped us get set up and she knew everything. we just equipped our fourwinns with new props from them. you can look there number on the website. i think its www.piranhapropellers.com but i would def give them a call at least you will know what to look for if you dont want a composite. that is what my cousin did to find the right SS size he needed.

Off hand I think you would probably need a 15 or a 13 pitch. if you can borrow a used tach from someone and set it on 6p you can verify the rpm's without going to the trouble of hooking everything up permently. The 140 is a good motor, it might grow on you.
