I have a 17ft glastron with an 85hp johnson on it. My prop is a 17px13 1/4d. I have some trouble getting up on plane. What size prop would be ideal for me? Boat runs about 34mph. I dont really care about the speed and my rpm gauge is broke so i can tell what the rpm's are with this prop. I do know that when i finally get the boat on plane it sounds like the prop is spinning like crazy untill the boat catches up with the speed of the motor if this makes any sense. All most like im spinning my tires in a car. Thanks for the help.

Re: prop size

Sounds like your getting air. Can you post a picture of the stern. Maybe the engine is too high or trimmed out too far. take the picture from the side and low so we can see the bottom of the boat and the side of the engine. Have engine where it would be while underway.
