prop slip?

Using one of the prop slip calculators my slip shows to be" 0.15 or 15?" Sorry dont understand that result ,Anyway What is the optimum number i should be lookin to get to ? thks , Leo

I think it's indicating 15% slip. I've heard that anything from 5% - 20% is normal, depending on your hull shape, propeller(s), etc. The "optimum" number, of course, is ZERO. :)

If the boat in your avatar is the boat in question, you're not doing too bad. I would shoot for as low as possible, but I think 12%+/- will be as close as you can get. That would likely come with a quality SS prop.

Thks Walleyehed, thats my boat "bouncing betty" lol , joke, I would probably be able to get better performance if it werent for the porpoising, have tried running my smart tabs down more to hold but then she loses speed, My prop Im running now is the 389510 ss , I keep goin back to a earlier thread that u recommend the stiletto 4 blade series1 for the rear lift.. but also they are pricey, if it does work Im happy otherwise Im stuck with it. also might try a 22p raker I had tried with my old 83 115, on for size. As now i have a 94 120 johnson.
