Prop slipping issue

Hi all,

I have a 1986 Johnson 90HO OB and the last time I had the boat out on the lake the prop appeared to be slipping, engine RPM kept creeping up and the boat speed was creeping down, along with a vibration coming from the motor area, I had to nurse the boat back to the dock. Well I finally got around this spring to pulling the prop off and it appears that the brass splined hub is not really attached to the rubber anymore. Does anyone know of a way to fix this or is it time for a new prop?

Re: Prop slipping issue

Take to a prop shop they will re-hub it. I had one done some years ago, it cost me $60
Check out new prop prices first. It may make sense to replace it.

Thanks, It is on a pontoon boat and from what I have read I really need a pontoon specific prop anyway, I will start a new thread asking for help selecting that kind of prop.

Re: Prop slipping issue

yes rehubbing props is an evryday thing where i rent boats.. but if yur on a pontoon you may want to go with a less pitched prop. depending on your size/rpms/speed
