3.0L 1988 Alpha One.
1988 Stingray SVB 176
Just bought, not put in water yet.

I have just finished replacing the pump impellor in the lower unit and was fitting the prop but the rear of the prop touches the bearing carrier nut before it touches the tapered center thrust washer. The prop is a 13/13 and the spacer/thrust washer has the number 77987 stamped on it, it also looks like it may be a little worn.

I removed some material off the rear of the prop but it made no difference.

Does anybody know if this is the standard prop/spacer for this drive?

The thrust washer is approx 3/8" thick.

Can you get different thickness spacers?

Thanks.

Re: Prop Spacing?

Brit-man,

Sounds like you may have the wrong thrust hub, that one is for the 225 and 3.4l outboards. The one you need is -13171 for use with the later style props (called "Black Max"), or -56292A2 for use with the earlier props.

Chris............
