Hi All, I have a 1990 Evinrude V6 150hp. I just replaced the water pump, put everything back, runs and pees well. But now the prop spins when in neutral. What did I do wrong and how do I fix it. By the way it was the 1st time replacing water pump by myself. TIA

Did you turn the shift rod ?-----It must NOT be turned as that changes the shift adjustment.------And due to the differences in the bearings on forward and reverse gear it is quite common for the prop to turn running in neutral.

Ok is the prop locked in gear? When running the motor in neutral on muffs it is not uncommon for the prop to turn.

No I didn't turn the shaft rod. But when I put it in forward I can see the shaft rod eye. I missed the pin? Do I have to take lower unit off again and redo?

No you don't.----Just get the pin in there.------Either move control or shift rod ( up or down ) to line up the hole.----Install the pin.

Thanks racerone. I'll give it a try. It's just so tight in there. Hard to reach. But I'll get it done!
