prop suggestion

I am in the process of trying to get my wot rpm's up to where they should be. Right now I get 5100 on my 87 Rude 140 with a 13 3/4x15 3 blade prop(alluminum). I also know that I need to raise my motor up to the top notch because my AV plate is sitting below the keel, which I will be doing next. My question is the two choices of props I've come up with are a 13 3/4x13 3 blade or 13 1/4x13 4 blade. Any suggestions on these choices and will the 4 blade keep the boat on plane at a lower rpm than the 3 blade? Anyone running this type boat with either of these props?

Re: prop suggestion

Make only one change at a time from your baseline. Move the motor up a little at a time and test with the prop you have. Depending on the cup in the aluminum prop and it's overall condition, start with the AV plate even with the true bottom when trimmed parallel. Don't spend money on a prop just yet.

Re: prop suggestion

Thanks Dhadley, only have one hole I can move up motor to. Will test run before changing anything else, was trying to do some prelimanary work on prop selection. It was suggested that I should be running at 5800 rpm at wot and I didn't think just raising the motor above keel would give me another 700 rpm's but won't know until it's done.

It's a 1987 Pro-Line WAC 21, 87 Rude 140 looper motor, wot 5100 rpm @ 28Knts by gps. Boat is a deep vee. I guess boat, motor,fuel weighs in at about 3300lbs.
