I have an 85 bayliner capri 16.5' boat with a 1967 Johnson super seahorse 85 hp on it. I believe the original motor was blown but anywho, My question is: Is there a way to switch the props on these engines to get the correct pitch and does anyone know what the correct pitched prop is??Any help would be greatly appreciated as I will be going out in the water for the first time this year after a long rebuilding session. Thanks again!

Re: Prop swap question

The 85 first appeared in 68.
Look on the props for a number usually near the base of the blades something like
10 1/4 X 11. Diameter X pitch. Run the boat with the prop on it.Get the rpm and speed preferably by gps. A Tiny tach is reasonable and easy to install. There is a web site. Tell us the prop size and your max rpm and speed with a light load.
