I have read a lot of posts about props being RH, LH, standard rotation and counter rotation and still can't figure out what prop I need to order. I have a 1987 Alpha One and am going to order a 14.25 x 21p 3 blade aluminum prop. The photos are of my old one that came with the boat when I bought it 6 months ago. Is it RH, LH, standard or counter?

Re: Prop terminology

Its a RH standard rotation and appears to be in PERFECT shape.

RH rotation turns to the right in forward (if you are standing behind it) and "screws" into the water. ;)

There are a lot of dings that don't show up in the photos and has been hammered a little.

Re: Prop terminology

Base your prop size selection based on how the motor performs with the 21 pitch prop and how you use the boat.

Higher pitch is fine for best speed with a light load. If you want to pull skiers/tubers, you will want a prop that's down one size in pitch for better pulling power.

Your full throttle operating range is 4400-4800 rpm. You'll want to be turning about 4600 rpm for good all around performance.

Calling "standard" rotation as being to the right is not always correct; as some of the older Volvo drives turn left as "standard".
