Prop turns but

OK somebody tell me that my summer is not dead. Heard a new clicking sound where upper and lower units go together. Not loud but could still notice the sound difference. I tried turning the prop by hand (yes motor was off). It rotates but is tight(in neutral), not a free spin at all, also notice that the shaft has a little play in it. Oils are all good and clear no water, have my bearings gone or have I lost the bottom. Somebody bring me something to hope for....

I don't know a thing about the sx drives, but a noticeable noise needs to be checked out.

Hopefully someone else will have more info for you.

Did you have it in gear or in neutral when you were trying to spin it? If not click it in forward and see if you can spin the prop, it wont spin easily even if it does. Also, have you ever hit bottom or wrecked a prop before?

Sounds like a bearing, but at this point there is no way to tell by guessing. You need to pull the OD and check everything. Obviously, anything in doubt should be replaced.
