prop wont seat into carrier assembly properly

I had a cracked carrier assembly on my 2005 merc 115 four stroke. I ordered a new one and installed it. I went to put the prop back on and it wont seat properly inside the carrier assembly? Exact same part number and design as the one that I removed. HELP!

What does "it won't seat properly" mean? Did you install your OEM thrust washer on your shaft before you slid your prop on?

Also any idea of why the old carrier cracked? Could it have been damaged from the prop not being installed correctly?
