as you may know, we just put in an above ground
pool. bad enough the heater wasn't cheap, but the
price of propane fuel is higher than I thought
heater requires no sparktricity, and they are
gonna put in 2 x 100 gallon (cyl) tanks for free.
run the 20' of gas line and fill them up for 99
cents per gallon... $1.29/gal in future.
all else nat. gas, so have no exp. w/propane???
got quoted as high as $1.49/gal.
curious,
M.Y.

Here in MI, I can "pre-buy" for 1.14 a gal. In the dead of winter they will gouge those who do not pre-buy, I've seen it as high as 2.29 a gal. Natural gas is not available in our area.

Hi mellow,

My experiance with propane gas is only with my range in the kitchen.

Right now I am paying $2.19 per gallon.

It is my understanding that the more propane you use, the cheaper it becomes.

A neighbor of mine uses propane for everything, heat, hot water, and cooking, and he only pays $1.20 per gallon from the same supplier.

Natural gas has just become available here, but I do not know the rates for that as my neighborhood is in the process of getting the gas lines installed.

Kenny

MY, tell the people to change the orfices in the heater to except natural gas and you don't have to worry about propane, just hook up to your natural gas you already have.

Yes - if you already have natural gas - have the orifices (main burner and pilot burner) changed or drilled out for the correct BTU's of the heater and also change the gas valve to a valve for nat gas. Reason being is that propane and natural gas operate at different pressures. 11" water column for propane and 3-1/2" w.c. for natural gas.

Well,

Here in 'Bend-you-over-with-no-vaseline-Oregon':

Current propane is $1.50/gal.

It went as high as $1.75 last winter, and I'm expecting it will do it again this year.

I'm so sick of our economy here. Makes me want to vomit.

Anyone have a machinist job open?

H.
