Is it possible for the propeller to become separated internally, what I mean is, the shaft and shear pin spin the internal part of the prop but I get no spin in the water? I have an Evinrude 18hp Fastwin, the numbers on the tag are 18304 AE0005114, but I have no idea what they mean.

Re: Propeller damage

So you are saying it slips? Very common problem. The hub is spinning in the propeller. There is a rubber shock hub in there that has come unglued. The prop can be re-hubbed (prop shop job), or simply replace it.

Numbers mean it is an 18hp, 1973, short shaft (at least it was built as a short---may have an extension kit added later.) 5144 is the serial number, and it was built in Australia.

Thank you very very much. This sure does make my life so much easier now.
