I had the misfortune of damaging the prop on my 06 15hp Johnson 2 stroke this weekend. The leading edge of the blades got pretty messed up but it did not crack off any material. How well can I rehabilitate this prop or should I just replace it? Also, Can someone tell me the OEM specs on this prop? Diam, pitch etc...

Thanks Jim

Re: Propeller Information

You will have to look up the numbers on the prop for the info you need.
As for repairs, a prop shop can answer that, but they can do really good with them as long as the blades are still on it.

A spare is always a good idea, if it performs well now get the same one as a spare.

And what type of replacement prop do you guys recommend? Aluminum, Composite or stainless?

Re: Propeller Information

As stated, look at your prop, the size and pitch will be stamped on it.

Just to note, prop prices are quite low right now, sometimes cheaper than rebuilding. Just shop around and make the right decision for you. May want to buy brand new and keep the damaged prop as a spare.

If your WOT rpms fell within your optimal range, keep the size as is.
