hey guys, i was out on the boat yesterday, a 77 searay with a 228, and we were cruisin along, i started to open it up a little bit and pretty much it felt like the boat went into neutral..... the rpms went up but the boat slowed down to nothing.....so i stopped and put the boat in neutral, then back into forward, it started to go again..... i would imagine it'd be the gears in the prop? is driving it like that gunna leave me stranded somewhere?

Re: propeller ?

It sounds to me that something happened to the latch that holds the motor down. maybe it gave way under High Rpms. When you put it back in Nuetral it latched again. Check the trim latch on the outside under the motor, should be a latch of some kind.

Sounds like you have a spun hub. Put 2 marks opposite each other on the hub. One on the inner part and one on the outer then try it again. The marks should stay lined up, if not the prop needs to be re-hubbed.
