I have a Mercruiser Alpha One Gen 2

Just bought a 19" HighFive prop ..... 48-815758-19

Think I screwed up it has a different fitting, not the FloTorq fitting that is on my other props.

Is this something I can swap off one of my other props, or is this just a wrong prop.

The back of the prop look like this :

2 questions here then.
# Anybody able to let me know pn for the correct Flo-Torq hub kit, loads on eBay, but need to know pn
# is changing the existing hub something I can do myself?

Re: Propellor ...

Have your tried installing it using the existing thrust washer?

Many props use a pressed in hub(like that one), and still go on with the same thrust washer and outer washer.

And no; you can't change the pressed in hub at home, unless you have a hydraulic press in your shop.

Yes it does 'fit' but would have no 'flo-torq' strike protection.

Re: Propellor ...

It still has a cushioned rub hub; it's just pressed in ( not the replaceable Flo Torque type). It has the same protection as the Flo Torque hub.

The difference is that it is not replaceable in the field. If spun, it must be taken to a shop to have the bad hub pressed out and a new hub pressed in.

Flo Torque is just Mercury's marketing name for their replaceable hub system. Solas calls their system Rubex.

Half the props in circulation use a factory pressed in rubber hub. You usually can't see it due to the metal caps on either end; but it's in there. Most older props have the pressed in type hub.

Ahhh ... (light going on moment) didn't realise that.

OK I have never spun a prop (maybe I won't) On Flo-Torq you fit thrust washer behind hub, with this prop do you just 'bolt it on, I did not get any other items with it.
I could at least then put it on and try it ... see if it gives me performance and WOT I need.

Currently using a Rev4 and want to compare a High Five. Only interested in Low speed performance (wakeboarding, Skyski etc), hence want to try High Five.

Here are 2 pics that show either end of hub

Re: Propellor ...

Just use the same hardware as your other Mercury prop(s). This prop and your Rev 4 should use the same hardware.

Thrust washer, prop, outer washer, tab washer, prop nut.

After torquing prop nut to 55-60 lb ft, don't forget to bend 3 of the locking tabs into the slots on the outer washer, and check the clearance between the prop hub and gear case.
