When my outboard is at idle and cruising im only reading around 12.50 volts at the battery this seems low to me! Does anyone know where the voltage should be and what can be causing this problem?

12.5 may be all you get at idle. What do you get above 2000 rpm?

Check the AC readings before the rectifier.
If it is about 13-14VAC at about 2500-3000 RPM the stator is good and the rectifier might be bad.
If not, check the stator/alternator winding.

That Force model doesn't have a voltage regulator so you should be reading higher voltage. Double check your readings as suggested both from the rectifier's input and output sides.

I took the stator wires off the rectifier and checked resistance with an ohm meter and got 1 ohm and acording to my manual .05-1.0 ohms is ok and no continuity between stator wires and ground so i rhink according to my seloc manual stator is ok gonna check rectifier next. How do i check the ac readings befor the rectifier?

Check AC voltage across the two yellow wires that are connected to the rectifier input (usually the rectifier will have a sign like ~ or it will say input, AC voltage). And yes, you measure the voltage while engine is running and wires fully connected.

Note the voltage reading. Next read the output voltage (DC voltage). Raise engine rpm to at least 1500 (fast idle setting on the control throttle should do it) Note both voltages. Shut down motor now read the rectifier or battery voltage again and compare with the previous reading from the rectifier output. The rectifier output should be higher.

outboardignition..com has test procedures.
The stator windings can ohm good but still not put out the voltage needed.
You need a DVA or Peak Reading Voltmeter for the stator output test.
