I am presently putting together all the pieces parts for the reassembly of my
1987 alpha one, I am going to be installing a new gimble bearing and bellows kit . I am looking for a list of recommended greases sealers etc. and uses for this task, and also for installing a impeller and pump kit.
I went to a (authorized mercruiser shop) where I picked up a tube of 2-4-c
grease, and quicksilver bellows adhesive. they said to use the 2-4-c for the gimble and u-joints, that is what they use. Gimble and u-joints not listed on tube. So if someone would be kind enough to put up a list of lubes, sealers greases etc. for the above mentioned jobs I for one would appreciate it.
I am getting a headache. looking for such a list.maybe even pin it in the adult section.

LOL, they sure are behind, have a look at this Merc service bulletin about 24C grease from back in 94,
http://www.boatfix.com/merc/Bullet/94/94_13.pdf

If you head up to the Adults only sticky at the top of this forum, you can download the OEM service manuals for your engine and outdrive. Has ALL the information you will be needing to put your engine and drive back together.

Thank you all, Don I do have the manuals down loaded, and do see the listed
materials for each section, I guess what I was looking for if available would be a single document listing all of mercruiser lubes sealers etc. and also giving a simple description for the recommended uses. I will go through them and try to compile a list, Thanks again

The lists in the manuals change. As new products come out, things change. Dealers are notified by Service and parts bulletins, or even brochures and printed information

The only real changes have been the use of ujoint and gimbal bearing grease, and spline grease used on the coupler splines. Years ago, 24C was used for all of those. 24c can be used for props, zirks on the drive, linkage, etc.
Then there is anti corrosion grease. That stuff is great when used on the steering cable tube. Especially on salt water boats. It's also good for battery terminals.
