proper Jet Intake Tunnel Shape

I have a 74 Chrysler Conqueror SIII Jet which has a small section on the hull intake for the jet just before the aluminum Jet intake that has a depression. It looks like someone let the fiberglass sag just before the intake but in reading this may be a design Chrysler engineers put in to the hull to eliminate High Speed Cavitation. Any jet people out there can confirm this? Since I am in the process of rebuilding it I am wondering if I need to cut that section out and flatten it or not. I will try to get a pic of it up soon.

Thanks

Re: proper Jet Intake Tunnel Shape

IIRC it has something to do with aiding the separation of the incoming flow of water. I've seen similar features on other hulls...
