What is the proper name for the rubber piece that is attached where the top cap and boat hull meet and that surrounds the entire perimter ofr the boat. Sometimes these have nylon rope integrated. I cannot find it online. Also does anyone know where to buy it? THANKS!

the bumper is a rub rail.
If you get one without the rope, you stretch the rope to get it in the groove. keep an extra foot or so at the end, as it will shrink over a couple of weeks. Then cut it off and tuck it in.

The "rub rail" usually surrounds the "hull and deck joint", the strongest point of the hull. Most larger boats also have a "cap rail", a short barrier around the top edges of the deck to hopefully keep things on deck from rolling over the side.

I've installed a few of these. They're pretty easy if you have a helper and if you follow the instructions. The ones I installed recommended warming them up in a tub of hot water to make them more pliable during installation. I've done it both ways and it's soooo much easier after they've been warmed up. There are a couple of manufacturers, but I've always used the ones made by Taco. You can find them here on iboats.
