proper prop for 73 evinrude 50hp

just picked up a 50hp evinrude model # 50373 it came with a composite 4 blade prop and i want to upgrade. what should i look for in terms or pitch and what not . I'm just going to be fishing mostly with the boat.

I live about 25 miles south of Rochester.
Before a prop can be suggested you need to tell us how the current setup is performing with the dimensions of the current prop. Needed are current rpm's at wide open throttle(WOT), top speed, pitch of current prop.

current prop is 4x13.5x15.....i am new to bigger motors i have lived with 9.9s all my life so how would i know the rms at wot....

^^^ I'm guessing you don't have a tachometer. You will need to install one if you want to do any propeller optimization.

Either see if your marina will lend you one or pick up a Tiny Tach.

how would i install one. it says operating range is between 5000 and 6000 rpm on the serial plate

The tiny tach has a web site and is easy to install and will work on any 2 cylinder motor without regard to stator poles.Just be sure to explain to them what you have.
