recently bought someone else’s headache. Boat rubs and idles great underload motor sounds clanky but revs up to over 4500 and will plane out now. Around 3000-3500 while cruising it will start back firing. Boat is very smoky when idling at dock. Black fuel smoke and rainbow in the water. I’ve done full tune up, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, coolant sensor, water temp sensor, thermostat, impeller, fuel pump, MAP sensor, new TBI injectors. Every time I do something it runs a little better and better. It also has days where it will run beautiful for hours tons of power and sounds great. Then randomly will run like crap again. I pulled the spark plugs they were NGK TR5 VPower very black. Are these even the right plugs for this boat? Any input would be very appreciated I’m really scratching my head on this boat.
