proper way to bypass oil injection pump?

I need to see if my oil injection pump is working or not.

looking at the hose routing, it seems the tank leads under the carbs over to the oil injection pump. the pump then outlets straight into the fuel pump (I assume this is where the gas/oil mix).

should I just unplug the line into the fuel pump and then add another section of hose from the opening on the fuel pump and block that off with say...a big machine screw and hose clamp for time being?

I need to run the engine at idle and watch the outlet of the oil injection pump to see if oil is actually pumping but for some reason I have it in my head that doing it like this will be bad on the fuel pump diaphram

and yes, I will premix the gas in the tank before doing this so I'm not running it on straight gas with no oil in it.

Thats only for a V-6 engine and the routing you posted sounds like a late model inline motor(70-115hp)

yep, its a 1990 90hp engine and after thinking a little longer...that part is NOT what I need lol. thats after you remove the pump all together. I want to test/confirm whether it works or not. kinda hard when its not even on the engine anymore...
