I've been around outboards a long time but rarely tinker with anything newer than late 90's. My buddy is going to look at a boat this weekend that is wearing a 04, merc 60 hp 2 stroker. He'd like to do a compression test on it before commiting. I've done compression testing before on older/smaller motors but wonder if there are any quirks/worries about disconnecting both plug wires and spinning the motor via electric starter to get the reading soff each cyl. Anything we should know? No chance of damaging the ignition system by doing this on a late model is there?
Thanks in advance!
